The show that we’ve all be waiting for, has begun. “The Voice” season 13 started at 8pm/7c on Monday the 25th of September with the Blind Auditions
Like the first falling Autumn leaves, the lead-off vocalists began what for some, could be a long, amazing and rewarding journey.
The big break for these mostly, unknown artists, is here. They desperately try to grab the attention of the coaches: PLEASE turn your chair! The chairs turn and the coaches playfully squabble and plead their team’s case for their chosen act while the singer waits, unsure of the best person to move their career forward. The sure and steady combination of Blake Shelton and Adam Levine bring consistency to the show as the new coaches settle in to the task of getting what they want, a winning team.
As always you find yourself listening to these new acts and wonder why they are not already famous – they sound that good.
Chris Weaver somehow combines being a worship leader with being a drag queen he tells the coaches. Adam Levine was so impressed with Chris’s powerful soul voice that he threw his shoe at the singer, then his jacket, before Blake chipped in “Keep the pants on”. But it was in vain for Levine because in the end Weaver chose Team Jennifer.
Then there was English teacher Brandon Showell, cashier Lucas Holliday with his amazing range, and of course the show stopping Native American Brooke Simpston – and that was all on day one!
The second night we were treated to more country artists including Keisha Renee singing the Don Gibson classic “I Can’t Stop Loving You” and “country as cornbread” Red Marlow from Dickson, Tn.
Then 21 year old Ashland Craft whose version of “You Are My Sunshine” in the style of Chris Stapleton, spun Blake’s chair around almost immediately. But she chose Miley’s team after an impassioned plea from the pop star.
